I am Course Director for the MPhil in Machine Learning, Speech, and Language Technology. I currently offer graduate modules on Statistical Machine Translation and Weighted Automata. In undergraduate engineering, I teach third year Signals and Systems, Random Processes and fourth year Speech and Language Processing.
I am a Director of Studies in Engineering at Clare College.

My research is focused on the statistical modelling of speech and language. Current research projects are working towards introducing semantics and natural language generation into statistical machine translation. The ultimate aim is to preserve meaning and encourage fluency in automatic translation.
